8 Natural Beauty Saver

By Zinn Beauty, Healthy Living

We at Zinn love buzzing about natural beauty and this is what we realized… While we turn to our bathrooms and dressers for our daily beauty fix, most of what we need can be found in our pantry shelves. While you probably won’t substitute your entire beauty regimen, these are some natural beauty savers to keep at home for healthier and gentler beauty care:

Honey: This is the best natural hydration you can offer your skin to keep it glowing to its max. Just apply a little to your skin after cleansing, leave it on for 5-7 minutes and then wash off.
Oatmeal: With soothing and anti-inflammatory properties, oatmeal has beta glucan, a soluble fiber that creates a thin, moisture-retaining film on the surface of the skin. Try placing a handful of oats in a clean washcloth and immerse in hot water for 5 minutes, then splash the water on your face. Oatmeal also makes an excellent gentle exfoliator when boiled and mixed with milk and soothes irritated skin especially after sun exposure.

Argan oil: Abundant unsaturated fatty acids help balance moisture levels for excessively dry skin and hair, and the antioxidant vitamin E protects skin from further damage. The phytosterols repair by boosting collagen formation. Apply on your skin, face and body daily for healthy glowing skin and strong hair.

Oranges and lemons: We love the vitamins in these citrus fruits, but what we love even more is to use them for dead skin exfoliation and scar treatments. Make a scrub with granulated sugar, olive oil and orange juice and rub it into your elbows, knees and heels with the orange skin to slough off dead skin. Apply a few drops of lemon juice directly on your scars and pimple marks to let its natural bleaching properties fade them away over a period of time.

Eggs: Eggs can do more for you than giving you your breakfast protein fix. Separate the yolk and the white and whip the egg white until it is frothy. Apply it to your face and wash off after 15 minutes to tone down redness and tighten pores. For a hair treatment, whisk together 1 egg, 2 tablespoons coconut oil and 2 tablespoons sesame oil. Apply to your hair and wrap in a hot towel for 5 minutes.

Beer: Beer can pump up and volumize flat hair. The yeast and hops swell the hair shaft and plump the cuticle, adding volume. The acidity removes built up product residue. Pour a can over your hair after your shampoo and rinse with water. Opt for a dark beer with more yeast content to do the trick.

Strawberries: One of the richest sources of antioxidant vitamin C, strawberries can be used on your skin in many forms. One of our favorites is making a strawberry cleanser. Extract some strawberry juice and mix it with few drops of rose water. Spread the mixture on your face and gently rub. Once you have cleaned the skin, just rinse it off with cold water.

Lavender oil: Sprinkle some on your pillow for a night of uninterrupted beauty sleep!
